Ammonia Piping Installation Factors. This course should be considered a minimum requirement for entry level industrial refrigeration operators, decision-makers involved or personnel involved in PSM/RMP. In this three day class students will be introduced to the fundamentals of industrial refrigeration including compressor, condenser, pump and evaporator operation and maintenance. Additionally, students will be trained in the Process Safety Management and Risk Management Programs (PSM/RMP).

This course includes hands-on training in the IRTC full scale ammonia refrigeration system which is a fully functional ammonia plant on campus. This environment allows students to test their newly learned skills in a supervised setting.

Students will be administered an exam at the completion of course and will be awarded a certificate upon passing. This 8-hour class is designed to meet the training requirements of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120(q) for On-scene Incident Commander. The Incident Commander is responsible for all aspects of the response, including developing incident objectives and managing all incident operations. Some of the responsibilities we will touch base on will be; • Ensure Incident Status Summary is completed and forward to the appropriate local, state and federal agencies. • Learning to establish the appropriate organization and what takes priorities in an Incident Command situation.

• Stabilize the incident by ensuring life safety and managing resources efficiently and cost effectively. • Help to understand what safety measures need to be in place before an incident takes place. This course should be considered a minimum requirement for entry level industrial refrigeration operators, decision makers involved or personnel involved in PSM/RMP, and individuals who respond to ammonia releases or potential ammonia releases.

As part of the 'Ammonia Refrigeration' training, students will be introduced to the fundamentals of industrial refrigeration including compressor, condenser, pump and evaporator operation and maintenance. Additionally, students will be trained in the Process Safety Management and Risk Management Programs (PSM/RMP). Students will be administered an exam at the completion of course and will be awarded a certificate upon passing. In the 'HAZWOPER Hazardous Material Technician Training' portion, students will become familiar with the techniques and procedures to contain an ammonia leak and students will participate in a live emergency response drill utilizing full personal protective equipment with a fully operational ammonia plant. OSHA defines hazardous materials technicians as individuals who respond to releases or potential releases for the purpose of stopping the release.

They assume a more aggressive role than a first responder at the operations level in that they will approach the point of release in order to plug, patch or otherwise stop the release of a hazardous substance. This course includes hands-on training in the IRTC full scale ammonia refrigeration system which is a fully functional ammonia plant on campus.
