Yoh all, This is my first post, not sure if it's been answered before thought:(. I recently bought a vostro 1500 with geforce 8600 gt graphics card. It runs nice but I notice the distance fog is 'wierd' in counter-strike: source, and if I had to guess it's probabally the same with the rest of the source-engine based games.

Those are the only ones I can afford to pay for.And those are not sooooo bad, I'm not looking for a super GPU that can run Far Cry 2 on 1600x1200 and with 16x anti aliasing with DX10 or any super crazy thing.Just want the games to run smoothly, I'm happy with at least 30 FPS on a very, very heavy game,at 1024x768 with all settings high. You won't with an 8600GT. Save up for a 9600 or an 8800gt/9800gt.

Save up for a 9600 or an 8800gt/9800gt. Won't I even get 30 FPS? Posted by codybiroth If this is for gaming. I'd recommend saving up and get a better card. Stuttered a lot too. Posted by codybiroth If this is for gaming. I'd recommend saving up and get a better card. If you get any of those you will be disappointed in the down run. Posted by XXplos1ve If your gonna run games at 1024x768 then your gonna be fine with a 8600GT but if your gonna play on higher resolutions your gonna need a better card. I'm still using a 8600GT and I just about get crap frames everywhere when i play on 1280x1024. I suggest you go for something better then an 8600GT though.its seriously out dated now. I run Crysis on medium no AA on 1680x1050 with around 30FPS, why would you tell him this shit?! Even though I usually get around 24 (FC2) up to 60 FPS in games, I always play at 1680x1050 and all my games runs fine and are totally playable (I don't play games at lowest, I usually go medium or higher if I can). That's true, besides, why would I apply AAif the resolution itself is so good that aliasing is not even perceptible?I will only play at 1024x768 as a very high resolution, I usually play at 800x600 with AA x4 and the aliasing is barely perceptible. I another 2 months or so ATi will be releasing their new DX11 line up.
